Trump, Maine's governor clash at White House over executive order compliance: 'We'll see you in court'
Maine is defying Trump's executive order preventing trans athletes from competing in girls' and women's sports.
In part, the article said…
"Are you not going to comply with that?" Trump asked Mills.
"I'm complying with state and federal laws," she responded, before Trump said "Well, we are the federal law" and "you better do it, you better do it because you're not going to get any federal funding at all if you don't.
"And by the way, your population, even though it's somewhat liberal, although I did very well there, your population doesn't want men playing in women's sports, so you better comply because otherwise you're not getting any federal funding," Trump continued.
"We'll see you in court," Mills responded.
"Good, I'll see you in court. I look forward to that. That should be a real easy one. And enjoy your life after governor because I don't think you'll be in elected politics," Trump concluded.
Mills released a statement on Friday, saying that "The State of Maine will not be intimidated by the President's threats."

Paying down the national debt
has become a cause celebre
since Trump has taken office and
DOGE has alerted the people
to the theft that has been going
on under the auspices of USAID.
Under our Constitution the states are prohibited from making anything but gold and silver coin legal tender for
debts.
Under said Constitution the Congress has the power to coin money and the Coinage Act of 1792 defines one dollar.
In 2025 how do the States and its people pay down the national debt with an evidence of debt that a one
dollar bill now represents?
Since the contract between the
people of the United States and
our duly elected representatives
has been abrogated and the
people cannot lawfully pay
down debt why not wipe the
balance sheet clean and "magic
slate" back to a "tabula rasa"
called specie-The place where it
all began.
