Why would American foreign policy which appears to be not only superficially but systemically more foreign than American support this?
What we have here is the steady drumbeat the PNAC document warmongers were pushing before operation desert storm-U.S. global expansion and hegemony while pushing for regime change in the Middle East designed to enhance Israel's dominance and regional supremacy. The two are inextricably linked. This is a case of the tail wagging the dog and Trump has made America the dog while Israel the tail wags the United States
The same neocons/supporters of Netanyahu's policies for the destruction of Iraq are the same war hawks pushing for war with Iran only this time it won't be a cake walk. Iran has been readying itself for this for some time and once the body bags and gas prices shoot the moon the United States will have lost its appetite.
Iran has the army and all else that is necessary to fight an asymmetric war and killing their Supreme religious cleric in a sneak attack will only embolden them. Negotiations are over and Iraq will dig in. Are you prepared for the coming protracted war of attrition?
