In October of this year I was in Nairobi, Kenya, and was with a few Christian Kenyan brothers who work with the nearly 100,000 Somalis in that city. While we were driving around they pointed out quite a number of very large and very new high-rise buildings being built, all by Somalis, including the largest mall in East Africa, in the Eastleigh neighborhood, which is where most of the Somalis live, also run and owned by Somalis.
I asked my hosts where all the money was coming from for all these very large and very new buildings, and they said that it was common knowledge that the money was coming from Somalis living in Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA.

A friend of mine told me a story last week about serving at a homeless shelter. He asked them where their Christmas tree was and they said, “We don’t look for any gifts underneath a tree. We only look at the gift hanging on the tree.” They knew the meaning of Christmas.
